1. Determine Well Depth

   - Shallow Well (Less than 25 feet deep): A shallow well jet pump is suitable. It uses a single pipe to draw water.

   - Deep Well (25 to 150 feet deep): A deep well jet pump** is needed. It has two pipes—one for suction and one for returning water to the jet assembly.

 

2. Calculate Water Demand

   - Measure the flow rate in gallons per minute (GPM).

   - A typical home requires 8–12 GPM.

   - Count water-using fixtures and appliances to estimate demand.

 

3. Check Pump Horsepower (HP)

   - More HP = More water flow and pressure.

   - ½ HP for shallow wells up to 25 feet.

   - ¾ to 1 HP** for deep wells up to 100 feet.

   - 1½ HP or more** for deeper wells.
