Retic Not Working?

🔌 1. Check Power and Controller Settings
Make sure the irrigation controller is powered on and the schedule is active.
Try switching the controller to “manual start” to confirm it’s sending power.
Listen for the bore pump — if it’s silent, power may not be reaching it.
✅ Tip: If the pump runs when switched on manually at the starter box but not from the controller, the issue is likely in the controller, wiring, or solenoid.
⚡ 2. Check the Pump Starter / Contactor
Ensure the pump starter box is getting power and hasn’t tripped a circuit breaker or overload.
Reset the breaker if necessary.
If the starter is clicking but the pump isn’t running, the pump may be jammed or burnt out.
💧 3. Check for Solenoid or Valve Issues
If you hear the pump running but no water flows, the solenoid valve controlling the irrigation zone might not be opening.
Manually activate the zone valve (many have a small lever or screw to open manually).
If water flows manually but not electronically, replace the solenoid coil.
🧰 4. Inspect Bore Pump and Foot Valve
If the pump is running but still no water:
The foot valve or non-return valve may be stuck or failed, allowing water to drain back.
The pump may have lost prime (common in older systems or if there’s a leak in suction lines).
In submersible pumps, the pump may be blocked with iron bacteria or debris, or the screen may be clogged.
🧪 5. Other Possible Causes
Air lock in the line — try bleeding water from a low point.
Broken pipe or fitting underground — water could be leaking out before reaching the sprinklers.
Bore water level drop — if the water table has fallen below the pump intake, the pump won’t lift water.
🧰 Quick Diagnostic Steps
Try running the pump manually at the starter box.
✅ If water flows: Controller or solenoid fault.
❌ If no water: Mechanical or bore problem.
Check if power is reaching the pump (with a multimeter if possible).
Open a valve manually to test flow independent of the controller.
Could you answer these two quick questions?
Do you hear the pump running when you start the irrigation?
Has the bore been unused for a while or recently serviced?
